Harriet Beecher Stowe in 1852, wrote, Uncle Tom's Cabin Stowe spent all of her time up north and it is believed that she may not have ever seen a slave. Although UTC is on most high school reading lists, a much more accurate account of slavery is My Life and Times, by Frederick Douglass. Much of Uncle Tom's Cabin lies....President Lincoln attributed the book to being a catalyst in starting the Civil War.
